Staff review
I arrived ready for a purely practical overnight, then found a place with a softer, friendlier feel than that framing suggests. The hotel side is neatly separated from the night’s activity, which makes it easy to choose your own pace.
Evening had enough movement to feel lively but never demanded participation. I liked being able to step in and out of it without losing the sense that I was staying somewhere, not simply passing through a venue.
I had read some reviews about this establishment before coming here and they were very negative but after staying here for a night I find them uncalled for and unfounded. I had no issues here at all. Everyone’s situation is different of course but all I did was find the service was great, the room was clean and excellent and the casino was fun. The restaurant was also convenient to have in the casino. I would definitely stay here again if my travels took me through this area. 😎👍
Came here for a ladies night. We had a great time watching the rolling stones tribute and walking around the casino. Our room was clean and check-in was easy. They also gave us early check-in as we had come straight from a fundraiser and didn't want to wait around town until 4pm. We were a little disappointed they only had one bar and restaurant, which were the same area. They have a strict one drink at a time rule, which is understandable but they refused to give us a round of shots until all of us had finished our drinks. The bartender was friendly, but kept telling us we were"being watched". We assumed it was a joke, but each time one of us ordered a drink or we were laughing the staff would point at the camera. It was a little strange.
I really like this casino, but can't win anything big. I have went multiple times spend alot and little wins. I noticed people betting very small amounts on the slots win. Im going back to try one more time hopefully it changes. The staff are friendly they have a variety of slots food is good.
Great experience with the hotel and casino. Rooms are really nice and clean. For the first time, able to sleep on hotel pillow, not too bulky. The Eatery is a great place to meet up with friends/teammates for a meal or just to watch the game. Friendly staff. No complaints here. Had my first casino experience. The staff member was quite helpful and explained everything to us. However, surprisingly the casino was not very busy, which was great!
We had a great stay at the Great Blue Heron hotel. We did not visit the casino, so cannot comment on that. Our hotel room was clean and quiet, which was especially nice for a Friday night. The staff were kind and check-in was smooth. Will definitely stay again when visiting friends in Scugog.
This is almost exactly what they say a home away from home especially for those guests who needs a place to stay after a long day of trying (their luck on gambling) and finding it difficult to do the long drive home in the dark highway. This hotel is one of my cleanest on the list, only second to none.!! The staff are so knowledgeable and really helpful and always do their best to accommodate the guests and their needs. Lots of ample parking and very safe place. I give it a 10+
Check-in was clear and low-fuss. By morning, the setting felt especially restful; breakfast is best approached as part of an unhurried start rather than an elaborate destination meal.
The bathroom was clean and uncomplicated, while the room delivered the bigger win: a genuinely quiet, comfortable place to sleep. That is what I would remember after a one-night stop.
Weekend evenings bring the most energy; choose them if the casino and entertainment are part of the plan.
A midweek overnight makes the calm rooms and country-edge setting easier to appreciate.
